  6.      Writing in the mode of dictation did not constitute a 
  7.      copying exercise as simple as might at first appear. It is a 
  8.      curious fact but it is precisely owing to this system that 
  9.      studies had been able to revive and a new literature was 
  10.      born in the heart of these Faculties. For every professor 
  11.      strove to give to the matter taught a new form suited to 
  12.      its own assumptions and inherent conceptions; and 
  13.      mostly he dictated to his students the results of these 
  14.      personal insights. That is how the university movement, 
  15.      from its inception, appears to us now as really modern.
